Trip to DC

Yes, I'm finally updating!

Back in October, Jon had the chance to go to the Greenbuilding Conference in Chicago. On the day he left for Chicago, I flew to St. Louis to spend a few days with Erika. We took this dorky picture together, and I didn't get a single picture of Eli! How frustrating. Oh well, you can check out her blog for pics of the babe. After a few days in St. Louis, I spent the night in Decatur with Jon's family and then we all drove up to Chicago for the weekend. I don't have too many pictures of that trip either...oops.
Reminiscing....here is our apartment that we lived in while we were in Chicago. We drove by it to show the fam.

More Cayo Costa

Some of the greatest "shelling" beaches I have ever seen.

Birds feeding at dawn.

Here is Jon cooking our ravioli dinner on the second night. It was much too hot to try to cook this over the fire, so our kindly neighbours offered us their little stove.

We were trying to figure out what would make these vines stretch for so long on the beach.

If you look closely, you can see the zillions of bug bites on Jon's feet. Sick.

Cayo Costa

This was our second honeymoon-ette -- another couple of days away. Cayo Costa is a small island state park on the gulf side of Florida. We had to take a ferry to get there, and then were basically stranded on the island till the ferry took us off. It was beautiful (although quite desolate) but so extremely hot and buggy. We were MISERABLE. However, now we can laugh about it. We saw manatees while we were kayaking, and saw a dolphin from the beach. Also, there was an abundance of really cool birds. But seriously, I don't know if I've ever been so hot in my life!

Whistler, B.C.

We had a great couple of days in Whistler. Relaxed, saw some bears, rode some bikes. Good times. Click on the link below to see a shutterfly album of these pictures.

Just a few more wedding pictures. I'll stop after this batch.

Some Wedding Pictures

Back to the Blog

Wow. It's been a while again. But I really only have three things to upload pictures about.
1. the wedding.
2. honeymoon #1: Whistler, B.C.
3. honeymoon #2: Cayo Costa, Florida -- or perhaps better known as "the weekend from hell"

Otherwise, life around here is pretty normal. I quit my job and am currently looking for part time work and spending more time on my midwifery studies. Jon is really enjoying his job with the City of Orlando but is working very hard and at times comes home exhausted. We are both really looking forward to the fall, when hopefully it will cool down just a tad. Seriously, this heat is ridiculous.

So ya...things are swell. We are blessed, happy and healthy.
Hope those of you that check this blog are doing terrifically!

Engagement Weekend

Jon took me to Sarasota and Siesta Key for a weekend, where he proposed. Here is a picture of the beach we hung out at, a picture of us right after the engagement, and a picture of the ring.

Jon told me we'd be going out of town for the weekend, but wouldn't tell me where. On Friday I picked him up from work and he just started driving west. I was so pleasantly surprised with the destination. The first night we had a casual dinner. On Saturday we went canoeing, checked out the town of Sarasota, and went to the beach. In the afternoon Jon needed to try raw oysters, which I don't think either of us ever need to eat again. That night we had a great Spanish Tapas dinner, and then went back out to the beach. It was so pretty at night, with only the sound of the water. Jon had put the ring in between two clam shells, and then superglued them shut. While we were sitting on the sand, he acted like he had found a still-closed clam shell. He prodded me to open it, but I refused because, well, that would kill the clam. I was just at the point where I was about to grab it from him and throw it back in the ocean when he said, "no, Kendra....open the shell". OHHHHHHH.....okay! I opened it and there was the ring. We still had the next day to bum around on the beach before returning to Orlando. It was a great weekend.

Kennedy Space Center

(Sorry - I can't get this picture to post right-side-up). My parents and two family friends, Amanda and Kristie came to visit for their spring break. Here are some pictures from when we went to Kennedy Space Center. Jon got a little tired of all the commotion surrounding the "CANADARM" -- but we Canadians were proud of our country's little piece of the International Space Station.

Biking at the Wetlands. Don't get too close Jon!
